CURRICULUM/INSTRUCTION REPORTS • Technology Report Daniel Larson, Technology Director, was present at tonight’s meeting to share the Technology report with the board. The Board asked him questions, specifically about AI and was curious about how we are handling the uptick in usage of AI. Mr. Larson spoke about how we try to restrict it to a point, such as certain sites, but we are in the beginning stages of trying to teach our students how to useit responsibly. Teachers are being taught how to efficiently incorporate it into classes, how to use or teach it to our students throughout the year. Mr. Pfingsten spoke about how we are learning how to use it, and how to incorporate it into our practices, and how to be cautious about using it going forward and what the future of AI might hold for our school district. 5. PRINCIPALS’ REPORTS 5.1. Dr. Morgan’s Elementary Report 5.2. Mr. Shada’s Activity Reports 5.3. Mr. Pfingsten’s Secondary Report 6. SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT Dr. Lewis shared information on enrollment totals as of Sept 9. The final numbers will be shared with the October 1st enrollment total from the state that includes all the option enrollment numbers. Dr. Lewis also reviewed her leave log as of the beginning of this school year, due to some medical leave. 6.1. Enrollment Report 6.2. NASB and NRCSA Updates 6.3. NASB Sept 23 Area Meeting-Last Call 6.4. Supt Leave Log Review 7. COMMITTEE AND REPRESENTATIVE REPORTS 7.1. Buildings and Grounds Committee Buildings and Grounds Committee have had a couple of meetings and working hard on compiling the information for the bond issue and updating the information, making it much more understandable for the public. The committee spoke about how they are working on nailing dates down for them to meet with the public to present the bond information. They are working to create a new postcard for the bond issue that will be voted on in November. They are working on a town hall-style meeting on October 7th, looking to share this type of meeting on Facebook Live. They are working hard to update the information that is being provided to the public and making it more relatable to the public and easy to read and understand. They also want to have an open house-style meeting on Oct 21, during conferences when the school can be open for the public to come in and look at the facilities and see exactly what areas and what things are looking at being updated, ask questions, and again get more concise information on the bond issue. This will be advertised as a public meeting that everyone can attend but not a formal board meeting. 7.2. Finance Committee Finance committee met August 27th and went over the county valuations and the budget for the 2026-2027 school year. Mr. Kratochvil discussed how he was not aware or misunderstood about the offset budgeted items that are being discussed for the bond that is being presented for a vote in November. The offset language that is being referred to is the funds that the district would “offset” to help with the cents that would need to be levied for the bond. This would impact the amount that we are asking in bond funds, and how much we would offset in the special building fund to create a smaller amount of cents for the bond project. Dr. Lewis explained how this would work, and by making sure that the other board members who are not a part of the finance committee aware of how the finance committee is working to make the least amount of impact on the public with the bond initiative. The committee will address any issues or impact caused by the misunderstanding that any board or community member may have and make sure that the communication going forward is more straightforward in the “offset” language. There are still some questions about how the bond is going to be funded, and Dr. Lewis will work to clarify the information so that it is more clear on what the actual numbers are and how the bond will be funded. 8. NEW BUSINESS 8.1. Discuss, Consider and Take Necessary Action to Purchase a Six-Month CD for $500,000 with Special Building Funds for 3.53% Interest or Higher Motion to Purchase a Six-Month CD for $500,000 with Special Building Funds for 3.53% or Higher Interest Rate Passed with a motion by Cassie Flesner and a second by Chase Kratochvil.
